Community Garden Demonstration Project
SEE is working to create a community garden on Ely Field, between Lambertville Public School and the baseball fields. This community garden will be a demonstration project, simply due to space limitations. However, creating a community garden in this location has distinct advantages for the long term goal of creating a large, multi-plot garden: it is highly visible and it can be integrated into school curriculum at LPS. SEE is in talks with teachers and administrators at LPS to work out what a partnership between SEE and the school might look like. At the same time, SEE is working with Lambertville's Recreation Commission to win approval to move ahead with this project.
Since announcing this project, SEE has been approached by a number of local residents who are interested in allowing others to garden parts of their personal property. SEE is looking into creating a local gardening coop. More details will follow. If you are interested in learning more about this or if you have land you would like to offer for this style of gardening, please contact us.
