About Us

SEE is a community organization founded upon the three pillars of sustainability — Society, Environment, Economy. Based in Lambertville, NJ, SEE is dedicated to fostering an increasingly healthy and productive future for our local, regional, and global community.

Mission

SEE seeks to generate positive and lasting change by building collaborative partnerships with existing organizations and institutions — including local governments, educational and charitable organizations, Chambers of Commerce, and others — while creating a supportive environment for engagement and innovation.

Goals

  1. Increase awareness of issues related to social, economic, and environmental sustainability through community events and public outreach and education initiatives.
  2. Empower individuals and organizations to advance and adopt sustainable programs, policies, and lifestyle choices.
  3. Become a recognized resource for and champion of sustainable initiatives and technologies, including but not limited to local purchasing and food; alternative energy; reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; waste reduction and recycling; natural resource, public space, and open space conservation, protection, and regeneration; smart growth and responsible land use; and community and economic development.
  4. Develop and support partnerships between public, private, and non-profit entities to create a sustainable future for our region.

History

SEE was founded in the winter of 2008 in response to what the group's founders, Julia Taylor and Emily Goldman, perceived as a lack of community organizations in the Lambertville-New Hope area focused specifically on sustainability. Since then, we have organized a number of events and projects, and collaborated with the Friends of the Lambertville Library, the ACME Screening Room, the Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance, the City of Lambertville, and numerous local businesses and individuals.
